Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene includes all activities which promote the good health of your mouth.

Good oral hygiene will prevent cavities (dental caries), gingivitis, gum disease (periodontitis), bad breath (halitosis), and many other dental disorders.

What you can do

  1. Brush your teeth, twice a day.
This helps to remove food traces, and with them, the thin layer of bacteria that release destructive toxins into your mouth.

You need to clean not only the obvious part of each tooth, but also the part at the top or bottom which is covered by your gums.

  2. Clean between your teeth.
Use dental floss—of different thicknesses if you have gaps between your teeth of different sizes. You can also use special interdental brushes, or any other device which is approved by your dentist or hygienist.

  3. You may get added benefit from mouth rinsing.
